Client Testimonials
When we decided to move to the DC area, we started doing research on schools and quickly realized we needed help. After talking to a few consultants, we decided to work with PEG (Ying was our consultant). Ying knows the schools in the area very well, and we were very impressed by her professionalism, sense of responsibility, and the time she took to understand our family’s needs.
Because we were in California, each time we flew to DC for school visits, we only had a limited amount of time. Ying and her team spent a lot of time helping coordinate school visits, student playdates and parent interviews, so everything was organized and we could use our time as efficiently as possible.
She has always put her clients first, and her communication skills are impeccable, always making sure we were kept in the loop from start to finish. Whenever there was a question or an issue, she always followed up with us quickly and helped us navigate the process with calm and clarity. She helped us understand what could be a good match for our boys, what was truly important in this process, and how to present both of our children to admissions teams – something we had never understood in the past.
After both of our boys were accepted, she reminded us about the contract and helped us prepare for the transition to DC. She has continued to provide resources and support even as we prepare for the move. We are very grateful to her and her team and would highly recommend Ying and PEG to any family applying to private schools in the DMV area.

Ying was a godsend! What could have been a stressful process turned into a journey full of surprises, growth, and meaningful self-discovery. During our school options discussions, Ying did a thoughtful analysis of each school’s academic strengths, school culture, sports, activities, and more, which helped us understand each school thoroughly.
What impressed us most was that our daughter felt no pressure at all during the process. Every time after talking to Ying, she came away inspired and full of ideas. Applying to 9th grade involves a lot of essays, and Ying made what could have been a tedious process interesting and fun. She made writing enjoyable for our daughter and helped her discover what was truly important to her and how to tell her story in an easy and natural way. Thank you again for everything! We feel so lucky to have had your support, and we know many more families will be lucky to work with you too.
— Parent in the Seattle area, whose child was accepted to multiple schools (Sidwell Friends School, Georgetown Day School, National Cathedral School) in the DC area in 2025 when they planned to move to the DC area
We worked with Ying on our child’s private school admission process, and through this journey, we were very impressed by her professionalism, integrity, and deep knowledge of schools in the DMV area. She knows the DMV school admissions process very well and gave us practical advice throughout. One thing we really valued was that she helped us see what could realistically be improved and what we should avoid doing in the application. She also gave clear advice on parent interviews, including the types of questions schools may ask, what schools are looking for, and how to handle them. I especially appreciated that she was honest and clear in her opinions—for example, she advised us not to add a second recommendation because, in our child’s case, it would not have added much value. She listened carefully, gave direct but never pushy advice, and ultimately helped us get into the top choices we were hoping for. The application process can be stressful, but working with her made us feel much more confident and calm.
— Parent in the Washington, DC area, whose child was accepted to multiple schools (Georgetown Day School, The Potomac School, Maret School) in 2026
We worked with Ying for our child’s application for 9th grade. We successfully received admission to the school we wished for. Our experience with Ying was meaningfully different from any education consultant we had worked with or chatted with before.
What Ying did particularly well was helping us focus on what actually matters. Instead of overwhelming us with generic advice, she brought clarity to how to authentically demonstrate our child’s strengths in the application. That perspective alone significantly improved both our confidence and the quality of the overall positioning.
The process inevitably came with moments of uncertainty and stress. During those times, Ying consistently demonstrated strong professional judgment—grounding us, cutting through the noise, and helping us make thoughtful decisions without overreacting. That level of calm, experience-based guidance was invaluable.
Her support also went far beyond what we expected. Ying took a very hands-on approach, including coaching our child academically and helping them better articulate their thinking. She also proactively connected us with other families from the school we were applying to, which gave us real, practical insights that we would not have been able to access otherwise.
Overall, Ying combines strategic clarity, personal commitment, and a level of detail that is rare in this space. We would highly recommend her to any family going through the private school application process in the DMV area.

Dear Sunny, Ying, and the whole PEG team,
From last summer until now, your continued support throughout this journey meant so much to us. From the very beginning of the process, you have provided highly personalized strategies for our son’s application and invaluable support in helping us find the right fit for him.
Sunny, I especially want to thank you for your insight into the local schools in Seattle and for the many thoughtful ideas you provided during the essay-writing process. The mock interviews you did for our son were so helpful and really helped him feel much more confident. Melody, your timely reminders about the process and important events made the whole application journey much smoother and kept us organized along the way.
We’re so excited that our son was accepted to Overlake and feel lucky to have worked with consultants who truly understand private school admissions and genuinely care about the families they support.

More than six months of the school application process has now come to an end, and the results turned out better than we had hoped. Our daughter was accepted to several schools, including our top choice. We had an amazing experience from day one when we started working with Ying and her team. She is very personable, always puts her clients’ needs first, and made the process super clear for us. Being located outside of DC (we’re in Hawaii) hasn’t been easy! We had to fly more than 10 hours just to get to DC for school admission events, and there were so many moving parts and a lot of coordination involved. But Ying and her team made everything easy and seamless for us. Whenever we faced challenges, she was always encouraging, and when we felt anxious about the process, she always found ways and resources to help put us at ease. She is the best consultant we have worked with, and I would highly recommend her without hesitation.

I want to thank the PEG team for their support and patience through this experience. Ying and her team are very experienced and truly took the time to get to know our child and our family. Whenever we had questions, Ying always spent time listening and helping us. From discussing school options and how to prioritize admissions events, to parent and student essays and interviews, they guided us every step of the way and helped our son present his unique strengths and character. Looking back, what meant the most was seeing how much our son grew through the process. We’re thrilled with the final results, but more importantly, throughout this journey, our son learned more about himself and can’t wait to start at his next school.

We had an excellent experience working with Ying and her team throughout the private school application process. She was straightforward, honest, responsive, and always available when we needed her. What helped us most was her ability to help us present our child in an authentic and compelling way, while keeping us focused on the right priorities at each stage. They were consistently responsive, detail-oriented, and provided clear, honest advice, which gave us confidence throughout the process. With their support, our child was admitted to all of the schools she applied to. We are truly grateful for the role they played in this outcome and would highly recommend them to any family navigating a similar journey.
